Swing for the Troops is an organization founded on the principle of giving back to our servicemen and woman in need. It is a non profit 501(c)3 charity that recognizes the devotion, self-sacrifice, and patriotism of our veterans. Founded by Army veteran and surgeon, Dr. Glen Mesaros M.D., Swing for the Troops raises funds to provide struggling veterans with resources to help with hardships in their lives. Currently, the charity supports the PA Wounded Warriors in their mission of financial assistance to veterans in crisis. In the future, Swing for the Troops looks to provide additional benefits in the form of scholarships and educational opportunities as well as sponsored trips and activities to support health and well being of our veterans. The charity has a yearly dinner banquet in February at the Lebanon Country Club in Lebanon, PA, a golf tournament in May at the Lebanon Country Club, and a golf tournament at the Longue Vue Club in Verona, PA. We are looking to expand on these activities in the future as the charity grows.
The mission of the SFTT charity is to support our veterans in need as well as their families. Commonly, veteran families that are struggling have little resources to provide for higher education. This can have a profound negative effect with missed opportunities to excel and realize personal potential. Our mission places emphasis on education, and we strive to provide an avenue for the children and grandchildren of our veterans so that they may realize their potential and take advantage of higher learning. The SFTT scholarship program is designed to offer some help for struggling veteran families so that college financial obligations are eased. It is our hope that providing financial assistance will help students to realize the benefits of higher education and subsequently achieve more than they otherwise could have.
